Catharine and Ernest Grant Trust

Catharine and Ernest Grant believed so strongly in the mission of the organization they helped found that they established a trust in their name to be used to further astrological research. This perpetual trust, which was established upon Catharine's death in 1988, became available for AFA research projects in 2008.

Catharine and Ernest were among the founders of the American Federation of Scientific Astrologers, later renamed the American Federation of Astrologers. They had a wide-ranging interest in astrology and were leaders in the astrological community. The four books they wrote, entitled the Grant Textbook Series, are the result of their astrological knowledge and experience. Catharine saw clients for many years, while Ernest taught astrology and promoted astrological research. He also served as president and executive secretary of AFSA/AFA. Ernest and Catharine are standing in the photo to the right, and LCDR David Williams and his wife are seated.

The trust is administered by two trustees in accordance with Catharine's will. They are Kris Brandt Riske, AFA Director and Executive Director, and Jack Cipolla, AFA Operations Manager. The late James H. Holden previously served as a trustee.

In keeping with the wishes of Catharine and Ernest Grant to foster astrological research, the trustees accepted a grant proposal in 2009 to reproduce every volume of Todays Astrologer, AFA's monthly publication, in pdf format to make this valuable collection of astrological knowledge available to those interested in astrology. Volumes 1-10 and 11-20 are now available for purchase.

Each volume has been extensively indexed by Stephanie Clement, FAFA. Stephanie is well qualified for this project. In addition to her astrological knowledge and expertise, she holds a masters degrees in library science (MLS).
